I/W: 2024 Theory
This post will look at how “water” in the creation story in Genesis chapter 1 is referring to the hydrogen atom. It also looks at how this is the building block for all matter and how it marks the beginning of time from humanity’s perspective.
Particles unperceivable to the human eye were unknown at the time of the writing of Genesis. The being giving the knowledge was aware of the existence of particles, which will be explained. The problem is the vocabulary doesn’t exist for the author to describe the creation with full accuracy. The solution is to use the most accurate possible description based on what’s presently known by the author communicating it. That description is water which is composed of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom.
There wouldn’t have been a more accurate substance known at the time than water, that I can think of, to depict the hydrogen atom. It’s also possible water can simply be referring to the archetype of physical matter abstractly as the hydrogen atom.
The hydrogen atom is the first element on the periodic table of elements. It’s composed with one proton and one electron. Every time one proton and one electron are added, the atom becomes the next element on the table. The point is, the hydrogen atom is the building block of all matter, and assumingly its starting point when you go all the way to the beginning. One pair comes before two pairs, and so on.
The existence of light and darkness on the first day (phase) precedes the water (hydrogen atom) on the second day (phase). Ge 1:1-2 is a prologue for the most part. Light and darkness aren’t composed of matter (atoms). Spacetime doesn’t exist prior to the creation of matter because spacetime relies on the movement of matter to exist. It can’t be measured without it. No matter, no spacetime. The separation of darkness from light and their mixing together (evening and morning) bring the water (hydrogen atom) into existence. Thus, this is the beginning of spacetime as known by humans. The original separation of darkness from light brings polarity into existence which the existence of all matter relies upon. I talk more about these ideas in these posts:
The Days of Creation in Genesis Are Phases and Light
How Polarity and Density Began and Exist
6 And God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” 7 And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so. 8 And God called the expanse Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day. 9 And God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:6-10
Reading through the creation story you’ll see all the matter to come after the second day is derived from the water (hydrogen atom). Before anything after it, there’s only light, darkness, expanse (space), and water. The start point of the formation of the earth is in Ge 1:7. It marks the separation of the matter that makes earth and the matter in outer space by an expanse God calls heaven, which is the sky surrounding earth. On the third day, Ge 1:9, the forming of the earth officially begins, deriving from the water (hydrogen atom) that’s already in place.
