I/W: 2022 Theory
The post looks at the spiritual meaning of the four rivers in Genesis 2:10-14. They are the four realms. Understanding what the four realms are will require reading other posts in this blog which are linked to below and throughout. This post is just tailored to the four rivers.
The Four Realms: Spirit, Soul, Future/Past, and Us
The Four Winds of Heaven Are the Four Realms
The verses are:
A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and there it divided and became four rivers. The name of the first is the Pishon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold. And the gold of that land is good; bdellium and onyx stone are there. The name of the second river is the Gihon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Cush. And the name of the third river is the Tigris (Haddakel), which flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates (Parat). Genesis 2:10-14
The names of these four rivers in order are Pishon, Gihon, Haddakel, and Parat. The original names of the latter two rivers are Haddakel (Tigris) and Parat (Euphrates). Looking at attributions to Tigris (Haddakel) and Euphrates (Parat) as present physical rivers on earth is outside the scope of this post. This post looks at the spiritual meaning of the rivers. The first half of the post mainly sets up context.
The translation of river from its original text can also mean head. Below are the simple definitions of each river which I’ve taken from abarim-puclications.com and linked to. See the yellow highlighted parts in the link’s pages for wider definitions. I also put which river number they are to their left and realm number to their right for reference.
1. Pishon (Realm 4) – to break apart
2. Gihon (Realm 3) – to burst forth
3. Haddakel (Realm 2) – to separate
4. Parat (Realm 1) – to multiply
As you can see the river and realm numbers work in reverse order. The reason is the rivers are from the perspective of being in a perfect heaven (Eden) and counting forth with that as 1 first, the fourth realm (spirit). The realms I numbered from the perspective of being on earth, not a perfect heaven, so they count from the fourth river first, which represents the 3D universe, the first realm.
The sequential ordering is more important than what has what number, given they’re all interconnected. For example, Ezekiel lists the rivers in the order of 1, 4, 3, 2, when he lists the creatures in Ezekiel 10:14, which are pretty much referring to the same thing as they’re connected to the wheels.

As you can see, the river definitions specify a breaking and spreading apart from rivers 1 to 4. The nature of the realms is polarity increases the lower you go in number. I’ve included this picture from the post on polarity and added the river names and numbers to it to show this visually.
How Polarity and Density Began and Exist
Verse 10 above specifies the four rivers derive from an unnumbered river which illustrates all the rivers are connected. The nature of the realms is they’re all connected as one while also separate, which is illustrated in various posts linked above.
I think Genesis 3:24 would look something like this picture I created. It is an abstract visual representation.
He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life. Genesis 3:24
The cherubim and flaming sword block humanity from accessing the higher realms. If the picture is turned vertical you can see it resembles a tree – “to guard the way to the tree of life.”
It’s hard to say if the flaming sword is just blocking the first realm (Parat) or all of them. But the verse seems to imply all of them more than not.
In Daniel chapter 10 you can read Daniel is standing by the Tigris (Haddakel) river which is the second realm. He speaks to, who I’ve been told is, Ashtar. Daniel is the only one able to see him. So what happened here is Daniel transcended into the second realm and no one else did which is why no one else could see him. Verse 14 from Genesis above (top) says “And the name of the third river is the Tigris (Haddakel), which flows east of Assyria.” Assyria is derived from Ashur, the second son of Shem and grandson of Noah. Ashur has a clear resemblance to Ashtar.
